On 21st June 2024, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Tamil Nadu Vibhag, Madurai Branch organized five programs in celebration of the 10th International Day of Yoga, with a total participation of 196 people.

The first program was organized at St. Mary's Higher Secondary School in Madurai from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. A total of 102 NCC students participated, and 4 Kendra karyakarthas were involved in the organizing team. The District NCC Coordinator and the Principal of St. Mary’s School, Madurai, graced the occasion as Guests of Honour.

Simultaneously, two programs were conducted for the Karyakartas of Vivekananda Kendra at the Kendra Karyalayas in Balaji Nagar and TVS Nagar from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. These sessions saw the enthusiastic participation of 21 Karyakarthas along with their family members, all practicing yoga together.

Later in the day, a session was organized for the NSS students of Maduai Institute of Social Sciences from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A total of 36 participants attended, with 5 karyakarthas coordinating the event. The college secretary, principal, NSS coordinator, Kum. Sumitra Didi, Jeevan-vratti Karyakarta, and Sri. Ashok Anna, Sah Nagar Pramukh of VK Madurai, ceremonially lit the lamp to inaugurate the program. The NSS students displayed a keen interest in yoga and took Sankalpa to incorporate it into their daily routines.

At Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Kappalur, Madurai, a program was conducted from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. with 7 employees participating. Three karyakarthas led the session, and the participants were eager to integrate yoga into their daily lives. A follow-up Yoga Satra for the employees is planned to reinforce their commitment.

The final program of the day took place at Mannar Thirumalai Naicker College Women's Hostel from 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. This session saw 32 sisters participating, guided by 3 karyakarthas. Kum. Sumitra Didi led the yoga practice, and it was decided to establish regular activities and Utsav celebrations at the college as a follow-up.

Through these programmes, Vivekananda Kendra aims to bring Yoga to the general public in its true essence, i.e., Yoga as a way of life based on the vision of Oneness. The schedule of all the programes were planned aligning with the International Day of Yoga protocol.
