Awards and Achievements

18.09.2004 Vivekananda Kendra, Gwalior, got entry in the “Guinness Book of World Records” for organizing a Samuhik Suryanamaskar in which 16,048 school students participated.

20.11.2005 Rashtra Sevika Samiti’s “Vandaneeya Saraswatibai Apte Gaurav Puraskar” was conferred on Kum. Nivedita Bhide, Vice President, Vivekananda Kendra at Thane for her services in the society.

15.06.2006 Vivekananda Kendra, NARDEP won the prestigious international ASHDEN Award (called the Green Oscar) for Sustainable Energy for 2006. Sri G. Vasudeo received the Award from the Prince of Wales in London.

11.09.2007 The Ministry of Water Resources of the Government of India, awarded Vivekananda Kendra – NARDEP “Bhoomi jal Samvardham Puraskar” consisting a Cash award of Rs.1 lakh and a plaque, for ground water augmentation through Rain-water harvesting, etc.

Vivekananda Kendra has been awarded “Sat Paul Mittal National Award” for its outstanding services in the institutional category in 2011. Sri Shivraj Patil, Governor of Punjab, handed over a cheque of Rs.2 lakhs, a Gold medal and a citation to Sri A. Balakrishnanji, Vice-President, Vivekananda Kendra.

04.12.2012 Vivekananda Kendra received the coveted SR Jindal Prize, comprising a Shield and a Prize Money of Rs.50 lakhs. Sri A. Balakrishnanji, Vice-President received it from Guruji Sri Sri Ravishankarji, at a function held in New Delhi.

20.02.2014 Government of Arunachal Pradesh honoured Sri A. Balakrishnanji, Vice-President, Vivekananda Kendra, with State Award for his excellent service in the field of Education in the State in the hands of the Governor, Sri Nirbhay Singh, in the presence of Sri Nabam Tuki, Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh.

2016 Kum. Nivedita Didi, Vide-President, Vivekananda Kendra was awarded “Padma Shri” for her contribution to social work. The Padma Shri was awarded by the President on 2017.

In 2018 Padma Vibhushan was awarded to Mananeeya P Parameswaranji, President of Vivekanandana Kendra Kanyakumari.

2018 Kum. Nivedita Bhide, Vice-President, Vivekananda Kendra is honoured with D.Litt by SNDT University, Mumbai.

26.02.2019 “Gandhi Peace Prize” for 2015 was conferred to Vivekananda Kendra for its Rural and Educational work in the country. Sri Parameswaranji, President, Vivekananda Kendra received it from the President of India, Sri Ramnath Kovind at the Rashtrapathi Bhavan. The Award amount of Rs.1 crore with interest was given for the Welfare of the families of the Martyrs protecting the Nation.

2019 Dr. M. Lakshmi Kumari Didi, Director, Vivekananda Kendra Vedic Vision Foundation, received “ Amritha Keerthi” & “Manorama Thampuratti” Award Kum. Nivedita Didi –D. Litt. –SNDT University, Mumbai
