As part of the Gita Jayanti Celebrations, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Karnataka Vibhag, Mysore Branch organized a Srimad Bhagavad Gita Recital Competition for school students on 7th December 2024. The event was held at the Kendra Karyalaya in Mysore and drew enthusiastic participation from students of classes 1 to 10. The recital focused on verses from the third chapter of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita, encouraging the participants to delve into its profound teachings.
The competition was judged by distinguished guests, including Sri Srinivasji, Vyavastha Pramukh; Smt. Gayatri Didi, Amruta Parivar Pramukh; Smt. Vasumati Didi, Sahitya Toli Sadasya of Kannada Prakashana Vibhag; and Su. Sowmya Didi, Saha Pramukh of Kannada Prakashan Vibhag. Their guidance and insights made the event even more enriching for the participants.
A total of 143 students from 27 schools showcased their skills and understanding during the competition. They were accompanied by 78 parents and 7 teachers. Additionally, 11 Kendra Karyakarthas were involved to ensure the program's smooth execution.
An additional attraction was the display and sale of inspiring books from Kendra Publications. These books drew significant interest, with many attendees purchasing them enthusiastically.
The event not only highlighted the spiritual essence of the Bhagavad Gita but also served as an opportunity for young minds to connect with its eternal wisdom. The program was a great success, promoting values and deeper cultural understanding among the participants and their families.
