Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Tamil Nadu Vibhag, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Vallioor celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi from September 2 to September 10, 2024. A total of 850 students participated in the event, which was presided over by the school’s Correspondent, Sri S.K. Subramanian Ji.
The nine-day celebration featured various cultural and religious activities involving students from LKG to XII Standard. The inaugural ceremony was graced by the Correspondent, Sri S.K. Subramanian Ji, and the Principal, Sri T. Muthukrishnan Ji, who formally inaugurated the festivities with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and a prayer to Lord Ganesha. The celebration was conducted in a traditional manner, showcasing the school’s rich cultural heritage and values.
Each day, different classes took turns offering a variety of prasadam to Lord Vinayaga as part of the daily rituals. Students and teachers chanted mantras and sang devotional songs, filling the school with a spiritual ambiance. After the puja, the prasadam was distributed to the respective classes, as well as to the correspondent, principal, and teaching and non-teaching staff. Particularly notable was the contribution of students from Classes IX to XII, who provided lunch for everyone during their celebration.
On September 10, the final day, the concluding puja was performed by the correspondent, principal, and teachers. Following the rituals, students from Classes X, XI, and XII participated in a procession, carrying the idol of Lord Vinayagar to a nearby temple. At the temple, another puja was performed, followed by the visarjan (immersion) of the idol, marking the conclusion of the festivities.
The Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations at Vallioor School were a reflection of devotion, unity, and cultural enrichment, providing students with a deeper understanding of our traditions and values.
