Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Kerala Vibhag, Thiruvananthapuram Branch organized a Yoga Satra from July 21st to 30th, 2023, at Shree Shankar Deva Vidyapeetham engaging 16 participants.

The Yoga Satra spanned over 10 days, with sessions scheduled from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. each day. It covered warm-up exercises, Suryanamaskar, Aasanas, and Pranayam.

Initially, participants encountered some challenges while attempting the exercises and Asanas. However, over time, they gradually grasped the relaxation techniques, making the process smoother and more accessible.

Each daily session dedicated 30 to 40 minutes to enhance conceptual clarity. Subjects covered during this segment included the essence of Yoga, diverse definitions of Yoga, and insights into Ashtanga Yoga. Additionally, participants received explanations regarding the meanings and significance of the mantras and shlokas frequently chanted throughout the sessions.

On July 25th, Dakshin Prant Sangathak, Mananeeya Radha Didi, elucidated Swami Vivekananda Ji’s teachings and provided insights into the service activities of Vivekananda Kendra, addressing the participants.

 

The Concluding Programme:

The concluding program took place on July 30, 2023. During this session, participants shared their experiences, highlighting common experiences such as relief from joint pain, a sense of freshness, and relaxation.

Subsequently, Sri. Anil ji, the Secretary of Sree Sankara Vidyapeedom, addressed the participants. He emphasized the significance of integrating Yoga into daily life, stating, "Yoga not only enhances our immune system, but also fosters positivity and confidence within us."

The Kendra karyakartas appealed to the participants to regularly practice the Asanas and Pranayama they learned during the Satra at home.
