Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Maharashtra Prant, Devagiri Vibhag, Malegaon Branch organized a Universal Brotherhood Day programme on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the Senior Citizen Club, Malegaon Camp. Around 70 people attended the programme.
The programme began with Malegaon Nagar Sanchalak, Sri Anilkumar Agharkar ji, leading the audience in three Omkars and the Shanti Pat. Sri Sanjay Pathak ji provided an introduction to the event, followed by Ms. Nupur Ahire, who introduced the keynote speaker, Dr. Smt. Vandanatai Mahajani.
The song “Shiv Durgechya dutanchi…” was sung by Sri Raghav Joshi ji, and Ms. Amrita Prabhune recited the inspiring Vivekvani. Malegaon Nagar Vyavastha Pramukh, Sri Vijay Yeole ji, gave an overview of the service activities conducted by the Malegaon Branch of Vivekananda Kendra, while Smt. Rupali Yeole anchored the programme.
Dr. Smt. Vandanatai Mahajani, a former professor at D.Y. Patil University and senior Karyakarta of Vivekananda Kendra, Navi Mumbai, delivered the keynote address on the topic, “The Relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s Thoughts in the Amritkaal.” In her speech, Dr. Mahajani emphasized the importance of positive thinking and leading a meaningful life. She called for a return to spirituality and encouraged cultivating a ‘Give Attitude’ and ‘Attitude of Sacrifice,’ drawing inspiration from Baba Amte’s selfless service. She urged the boycott of foreign goods and stressed the need for grassroots service. Dr. Mahajani highlighted India’s role during the COVID-19 pandemic as an example of true service and reiterated Swami Vivekananda's message of positive thinking to help Bharat become a Vishwaguru.
Following her address, Dr. Smt. Mahajani and Sri Bhalchandra Mahajani ji, Vice President of the Konkan Region Advocate Forum, were felicitated by senior Karyakarta Smt. Kalinditai Hinge and Sri Suresh Chaudhari ji, respectively. Smt. Mahajani also honored Sri Sudhakarrao Ahire ji, a Corona warrior from Malegaon Municipal Corporation’s Fire Brigade.
Senior Karyakarta Dr. Suresh Shastri ji appealed to the audience to participate in the activities of Vivekananda Kendra. Sri Jaywant Jadhav ji delivered the vote of thanks, and the programme concluded with Ms. Pranjalitai Kulkarni leading the audience in the recitation of Pasaydan.
Sri Suresh Garud, Sri Kumar Sutavani, Sri Prafull Prabhune, Sri Mahesh Agrawal, and Sri Vivek Malpure made significant efforts to ensure the success of the event.
