Gurupurnima is one of the five Utsavas celebrated in Vivekananda Kendra. In Kendra, Omkara is revered as the Guru, and every year, Gurupurnima is celebrated grandly by all branch centers of Vivekananda Kendra across Bharat.
On the auspicious occasion of Gurupurnima, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Uttar Prant, Himachal Vibhag, Kangra Branch celebrated Gurupurnima at the residence of Sri B.L. Sharma Ji in the Jayanti Vihar locality of Kangra town. The program was held on 21st July 2024, Gurupurnima day, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 13 people participated.
The program commenced with three Omkars and Shantipat followed by Vedic chanting by Kum Vaidehi and Kum Vaidika. Sri Vivekananda Sharma Ji, Karya Paddati Pramukh provided an introduction to the Gurupurnima Utsav, its significance, and welcomed all the participants.
Dr. Ashok Kumar Ji, Kangra Nagar Sanchalak, read the letter on Gurupurnima sent by Mananeeya Nivedita Didi, All India Vice President of Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari. The letter highlighted the importance of Gurupurnima, the Guru Parampara, and Vivekananda Kendra’s efforts to connect people with their religious and cultural roots. The attendees shared their thoughts and discussed the contents of the letter.
The discussion emphasized the Guru-Shishya Parampara and its relevance in the present scenario. The relationships between Takur Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Swami Vivekananda, and between Rishi Parshuram and Karna were also cited during the discussion.
Following the discussion, all participants paid floral tributes and obeisance at the feet of Guru Omkara. Sri Vivekananda Ji delivered the vote of thanks, and the program concluded with Kendra Prathana. All attendees were served prasada.
