About the Sangamam

Yoga Śāstra Sangamam 2027 brings together scholars, practitioners, teachers and seekers for three days of study, dialogue and practice at Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari.

Now in its tenth edition, this International Conference on Yoga Philosophy offers a shared space to explore classical Yoga texts and their application in life. Reflecting the confluence of the three seas at Kanyakumari, the Sangamam brings together philosophical understanding, traditional knowledge and practical experience.

Through plenary sessions, paper presentations, discussions, demonstrations and spiritual practices, participants will deepen their understanding of Yoga as an integrated path of Sādhanā.

Theme: Exploring the Haṭhapradīpikā

The 2027 edition is dedicated to the Haṭhapradīpikā, a foundational text of classical Yoga that brings together its physical, psychological, philosophical and spiritual dimensions.

The conference will explore all four Upadeśāḥ, examining the text’s concepts, teachings, interpretations and practices. It seeks to encourage thoughtful study, deepen practical understanding and inspire participants to connect the wisdom of Yoga Śāstra with their own practice.

Auspicious Presence

The Sangamam will be graced by Paramacharya Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati of the Bihar School of Yoga, who carries forward the legacy of his Guru, Sri Swami Satyananda Saraswati.

His presence and interactions throughout all three days will offer participants an opportunity to receive guidance and inspiration from a revered spiritual preceptor and yogic master.

Programme Highlights

  • Plenary and parallel sessions, with presentations in English and Hindi
  • Paper and poster presentations exploring the Haṭhapradīpikā
  • Panel discussions on Yoga philosophy and practice
  • Yoga practice sessions and Āsana and Kriyā demonstrations
  • Pātañjala Yoga Sūtra recitation competition—any two pādas in continuation
  • Patanjali Homam with the chanting of Maharshi Patanjali’s 108 names and Yoga Sūtras
  • A visit to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial
