Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Tamil Nadu Vibhag, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Kanyakumari celebrated the 75th Republic Day at the school premises on January 27, 2024, starting from 8.30 a.m. A total of 1160 students participated in the programme.
Dr. T. Ramesh Kumar ji, Neonatologist & Nodal Officer NICU, Govt. Medical College, Asaripallam, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Mananeeya Sri Hanumantaraoji, All-India Vice President of VRM & VK, presided over the program. Sri. M. Vignesh from XII-B served as the Master of Ceremony.
The Republic Day celebration commenced with an invocation, followed by the hoisting of the national flag by Mananeeya Sri Hanumantarao ji. Kum. A.J. Mathisha from IX standard delivered the welcome address. To honor Bharat Mata, students of class VIII & IX presented a beautiful patriotic song, and Kum. Ashika from class VIII C eloquently spoke about the importance of the day.
Students of VKV showcased their talents through energetic performances in Karate and Silambam. Sisters of class IX captivated the audience with a sweet patriotic song in Tamil.
Dr. T. Ramesh Kumar ji, the esteemed chief guest, addressed the students, sharing insights from his school life that helped him achieve his goals. He emphasized Swami Vivekananda's words, “Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached,” encouraging students to be disciplined and hardworking. He advised them to set long-term goals, cultivate hobbies like tree planting, and serve others, while avoiding excessive use of social media. Dr. T. Ramesh Kumar ji also expressed his readiness to support the school in any way possible.
The students performed a Tamil drama depicting the life of Veeran Sundaralingam. Mananeeya Sri Hanumantaraoji shared his thoughts, emphasizing the honor of being citizens of our country and encouraging the students to aspire to serve in the Army, Navy, or Defense to protect our nation.
A colorful dance performance by students of class VIII & IX added vibrancy to the celebration. The talents of the students were showcased through various competitions, and the winners were honored by the chief guest. Mananeeya Sri Hanumantaraoji presented a memento to Dr. T. Ramesh Kumar Ji. Kum. Krishna Priya from VIII-B delivered the vote of thanks.
The Republic Day celebration concluded with Kendra Prarthana, followed by the distribution of sweets to all participants.
