Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Tamil Nadu Vibhag celebrated Gurupurnima with programs at 70 locations, involving a total of 4,591 participants. The celebrations took place from 20th to 28th July 2024.
Valmiki Nagar (South Chennai) Branch
On 22nd July, the Valmiki Nagar branch celebrated Gurupurnima in a Yoga Varga with 10 participants at the Kendra karyalaya in Triplicane. Mananeeya Nivedita Didi’s message on Gurupurnima was read and discussed. Following that, a pushpanjali was offered to Maharishi Veda Vyasa.
Madurai Branch, Murugan Vistar
VK Madurai, Murugan Vistar celebrated Gurupurnima on 27th July 2024 at the Kendra Karyalaya in Balaji Nagar with 51 participants. The Samskarvarga children performed cultural programs including Bharatanatyam, drama, and bhajans related to Guru Bhakti. Dr. S. Govindaraj Ji, Director of Swami Vivekananda Vidya Mandir Group of Institutions, Madurai, was the chief guest and delivered a talk on Gurupurnima.
Madurai Branch, Ramar Vistar
On 28th July, Gurupurnima was celebrated in the Sanskar Varga at TVS Higher Secondary School, Madurai, with 43 participants. A story about Gurupurnima was shared, along with the significance of the celebration.
Thoothukudi Branch
Thoothukudi Branch celebrated Gurupurnima at Sri Sarada Nursery and Primary School, Thoothukudi, on 20th July with 200 students and 20 teachers. Smt. Subathra Vetrivel, Nagar Sanchalak, Thoothukudi, inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp. Students performed various cultural programs to highlight the importance of Gurupurnima.
VK Rural Development Program
The Vivekanadna Kendra Rural Development Program organized Gurupurnima programs at 61 locations, with a total of 2,017 participants. These programs were held at various Balwadis, RDP branch centers, and schools in the districts of Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, and Tenkasi.
Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Kanyakumari
Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Kanyakumari organized Gurupurnima programs with a total of 1,224 participants. One program was held at Swami Vivekananda Sabhagriham on 22nd July 2024 with 1,180 participants, graced by Sri Baktha Lakshana Giri Maharaj from Gopinath Gaudiya Math, Kovilpatti. Another program was held in Kendra Varga on 27th July at VKV Kanyakumari, with 44 teachers participating.
Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Vallioor
VKV Vallioor celebrated Gurupurnima on 24th July 2024 in the school premises with 865 students and 25 parents participating. Smt. Santhanamari, President of Seelathikulam Panchayat, was the chief guest. Cultural performances were organized, and students performed pooja to their teachers and received blessings.
Vivekananda Kendra Headquarters
Gurupurnima was celebrated at the Vivekananda Kendra Headquarters in Kanyakumari on 21st July 2024 during Kendra Varga. Guru Stotra was chanted, and Mananeeya Rekha Davey Didi, All India Joint General Secretary of VRM & VK, delivered a talk on Gurupurnima. The karyakartas offered pushpanjali at Mananeeya Eknathji Samadhi and at Swami Vivekananda Mandapam. The program coincided with the Gurupurnima bhaithak of Tamil Nadu and Kerala Vibhags, with a total of 48 karyakartas present.
Tamil Nadu Vibhag
Vivekananda Kendra Tamil Nadu Vibhag celebrated Gurupurnima with a special lecture in the online Swadhyaya Varga on 25th July 2024, with 88 participants. Sri Guruji Gopalavallidasar from Radhe Krishna Satsangam delivered a talk on ‘Guru Mahima and Guru Parampara.’
