We are grateful to you all for enabling us to distribute 500 kits to families of Valpura village, Kankrej tehsil, Banaskantha district - the flood affected people - as a 1st phase of this SEWA YAGNA.
It was all possible as you all - the well-wishers, karyakartas throughout India and abroad - showered the timely support for the victims of heavy rains and floods in North Gujarat.
The Prant team of Gujarat after judging the situation in North Gujarat after the devastating effect of heavy rains and floods, decided to support the families by providing them with daily requirements like groceries and utensils, in the form of a kit.
An appeal was sent to all the karyakartas through different means to collect donation for preparation of the kits. Karyakartas were overwhelmed to see the response from the vibrant and sensitive society as wherever they approached, people started giving funds for this SEWA-YAGNA generously and in full faith.
05 August, 2017 A team was formed karyakartas, who had come to Rajkot from different Nagar and Karya Sthans of Gujarat, for their contribution in this holy work. The grocery items and utensils were collected in the karyalaya.
06 August, 2017 since very early morning, the karyakartas began to pack the kits in a very systematic manner, completely filled kits were packed and labeled. Due to the systematic and efficient team work of the karyakartas, the preparation of 500 kits, each with 24 pieces of utensils, 14 types of groceries got completed in 4 hours.
In the evening, a meeting was held, in which Dr. Kamleshbhai Upadhyay (Sah Prant Sanchalak) guided the karyakartas by briefing the real situation of the villages, precautions to be taken while working there and elaborated the attitude through which one has to do this SEWA-YAGNA. At 10:30 pm, the Karyakartas tied “raksha” to all the other bandhus, who had come from different places, leaving their own families on the festival day for the sake of larger entity i.e. society. The team of 40 karyakartas loaded the kits in two trucks. At 11:30 pm, they started the holy journey to Valpura village, their destination.
07 August, 2017, Rakshabandhan Diwas : The village Valpura of Kankrej, Banaskantha district has suffered severely with death of 3 people, loss of more than 180 animals have been swept away in the floods and only 2 days ago, the road connection has been re-established with the prime cities of Gujarat.
We took 8 hours (which usually takes 4:30 hrs) to reach Valpura through the severely damaged roads. Here teams of 5 members each was formed and a team was placed near the gathering place of villagers for distribution of kits, while other 4 teams went for GRAM-SAMPARK, wherein karayakartas went to each house and tied “raksha” to everyone in family, giving sweets and a token to each family. The members of family were invited to come at the village Square and collect their kit by returning the token.
Karayakratas deeply felt the woes of the people but were satisfied that on this unique celebration of ‘RAKSHABANDHAN’, they at least could do some help to them. The villagers also were happy for receiving some succor for their day to day living
