Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Tamil Nadu Vibhag, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Kanyakumari, celebrated the 76th Republic Day at the school premises on 26th January 2025, starting at 8:30 a.m. A total of 1,160 students and staff members participated in the celebration.
Sri J. Pugal Neela Renga Swamy Ji, Retired Assistant Executive Engineer, TNEB, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Aadharneeya Kum. Radha Devi Didi, Dakshin Prant Sanghatak, VRM & VK, presided over the program. N. P. Hahina of Class IX B served as the master of ceremony.
The celebration began with the invocation, "Vande Mataram." Susri Radha Didi unfurled the national flag, followed by the National Anthem and the pledge. Kum. Sri Dharshini of Class X delivered the welcome address. Students of Class IX dedicated a patriotic song to Bharat in Hindi. Kum. Nubisha of Class VII enthusiastically spoke about the importance of Republic Day. The students showcased their martial arts skills through Karate and Silambam performances, while the school choir presented a melodious Bharathiyar song in Tamil.
The Chief Guest, Sri J. Pugal Neela Renga Swamy Ji, shared his thoughts and experiences. He extended his Republic Day wishes to all and emphasized the significance of 26th January 1950, when Bharat became a Republic. He spoke about India's progress as a developing nation and shared insights from his 35 years of service in TNEB. His speech provided students with valuable knowledge about induction motors, windmills, and the various types of power stations in India. He encouraged students to use opportunities and strive for success in their future careers.
The students of VKV enacted a Tamil drama based on the life of Jaswant Singh Rawat, whose heroic deeds filled the audience with pride and patriotism.
In her presidential address, Adharneeya Radha Didi commended the students' drama performance and urged everyone to be true patriots. She reminded them that Republic Day is an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices of soldiers and great leaders. She encouraged the students to be responsible sons, daughters, and citizens, emphasizing that remembering and honoring the contributions of great personalities would bring blessings from Mother Bharat.
The event also recognized the talents of students through various extracurricular competitions. The Chief Guest and Adharneeya Radha Didi honored the prize winners, and as a token of gratitude, Aadharneeya Radha Didi presented a memento to Sri J. Pugal Neela Renga Swamy ji.
G. Charanjit of Class VIII delivered the vote of thanks. The celebration concluded with Kendra Prarthana, followed by the distribution of sweets to all attendees.
