The Science Exhibition for the VKVs of North East India concluded yesterday at VKV Chimpu. The programme concluded in a glittering function where eminent persons’ presence made added attraction to the event.


Dr.Ligu Tacho, Chairman APPSC was the Chief Guest and Er .T.Ronya, Director Cum Member Secretary, Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science and Technology Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh was the Guest of honour.


Addressing the function Dr.Ligu Tacho, said that students should try to make India a Developed Nation by 2020through a new scientific outlook and creativity. We should overcome the problems and do not allow the problems to overcome us; he advised the students of VKV Itanagar and the delegates of the three day science exhibition from other 52 VKVs of Assam, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.


Dr.Tacho added that Arunachal Pradesh has scarcity of science Post Graduates and there was not a single Arunachalee candidate for a recent interview for the post of Assistant Professors .He asserted that eighty percent of students’ time should be spent for learning science subjects like mathematics, botany, biology etc.


Er. T.Ronya, who was the Guest of Honour of the function, assured that he would take some of the models related to Indegenous houses, water-harvesting devices, etc. to the Central Ministry of Science and Technology for further improvisation.


Sri.Pravin Dabolkar, All India Joint General secretary of Vivekananda Kendra,Kanyakumari also the Secretary of all VKVs of North–Eastern states spoke on the need of developing unity and integrity of the nation particularly in the North East.He said that such interstate interactive programmes would help to bring the bond of unity.


Sri Rinchen Dorjee, former APSC Chairman and the coordinator of the 150th Swami Vivekananda’s Jayanti celebration, Arunachal Pradesh, Su.Radha Devi, and VKVs Arunachal Pradesh Trust also spoke on the occasion. Among the sixty-one models of exhibition best six of Arunachal Pradesh and best five of Assam VKVs received the proficiency and appreciation certificates and trophies. Nyima Bole, Tadar Nyeder, Lenbom Tali, Biri Siram, Karthika Jayan , Yollum Camdir Tok, Chinmoyee Bhuyan, Prajjwalita Patir and Simanta Lahkar from VKV Itanagar, Rimo Rallen and Nich Dogum of VKV Ziro, Karto Dirchi and Tariang Takio Tayung of EMRS Bana, Tomo Doye and Abhishek Gupta of VKV Oyan are among the prize winners.


The grand programme culminated with a promise that VKVs will take the lead to continue the journey with science taking students from all around North East in general and Arunachal Pradesh in particular.


This is not the end of the programme instead it is a grand clarion call to the young budding scientists to make a mark in the region.
