Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Tamilnadu Vibhag, Vivekananda Kendra Rural Development Programme, Thoothukudi branch celebrated Swami Vivekananda Jayanti and National Youth Day on January 12, 2025, with immense enthusiasm and devotion. The celebrations began at 7:30 AM at Vivekananda Square, Kamaraj College, Thoothukudi, where a floral garland was offered to the Murti of Swami Vivekananda, followed by Aarati and distribution of prasad. Kendra Karyakartas, Yoga Varga participants, and well-wishers participated in this serene celebration.
The day continued with a vibrant cultural program at 10:00 AM at the Yoga Hall in the VK-RDP Karyalaya in Thoothukudi. Various competitions were organized for children, including elocution, singing, and recitations of Swami Vivekananda’s inspiring thoughts. Around 30 children enthusiastically took part, showcasing their talents. The event was attended by parents, teachers, and well-wishers who supported the children and added to the festive atmosphere.
To encourage the children, participation certificates and mementos were awarded to all those who performed, celebrating their achievements and nurturing their connection to Swami Vivekananda’s ideals. The program concluded with Kendra Prarthana and distribution of prasad, fostering a sense of community and spiritual upliftment among all present. The event was organized under the guidance of Smt. Gowri Rajasekhar, Sah Nagar Sanchalak of Thoothukudi.
