On 21st June 2024, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Tamil Nadu Vibhag, Coimbatore Niyojit Nagar organized six programs in celebration of the 10th International Day of Yoga, with a total participation of 666 people.

The first program was organized at Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, Coimbatore, starting at 6:30 am. Twenty-one inmates of the ashram participated in the session led by Smt. Thangalakshmi Didi, Tamilnadu Vibhag Pramukh. The session was graced by Sri Rajkumar Ji, Tamilnadu State Hostel Incharge, and Sri Sudharshan Ji, Tamilnadu Activities Pramukh, Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram. Following the session, it was decided to conduct a Yoga Varga for inmates every Saturday and a Samskar Varga for both inmates and external participants every Sunday.

The second program took place at Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Coimbatore, at 9:15 am. A total of 110 students participated in the yoga session led by Smt. Thangalakshmi Didi. The session was attended by Sri Balaji Ji, Managing Committee Member, VRMVK, and Sri Raman Ji, a well-wisher of VK.

The third program was held at Corporation Primary School, Linganoor, at 10:30 am. Seventy students participated in the session, which was led by Smt. Thangalakshmi Didi. The Head Mistress of the school, Smt. Anitha, was the guest of honor. It was decided to conduct a Sanskar Varga for school students every Friday as a follow-up.

The fourth program was organized at Government Higher Secondary School, Kalveerampalayam, at 3:30 pm. Four hundred students from classes 5 to 12 attended the session led by Smt. Thangalakshmi Didi. The session was honored by the presence of Sri Senthil Kumar ji, Head Master of the school. Plans were made to conduct Swadhyaya Competitions in the school as a follow-up.

The fifth program took place at Ananyas Nana Nani Homes Phase 5, Vadavalli, Coimbatore, at 4:00 pm. Thirty-five elders from the community participated in the specially curated Vanaprastha Yoga practices led by Smt. Thangalakshmi Didi. The session was graced by Sri Balaji Ji and Sri Raman Ji.

The sixth and final program of the day was held at The Sevashram Trust, RS Puram, Coimbatore, at 6:00 pm. Thirty participants, including the sevashram karyakarthas, attended the celebration and practiced yoga. The session was led by Smt. Thangalakshmi Didi and attended by Sri Balaji Ji and Sri Raman Ji. It was decided to conduct a weekly Sanskar Varga at the Sevashram Trust for the students as a follow-up.

Through these programmes, Vivekananda Kendra aims to bring Yoga to the general public in its true essence, i.e., Yoga as a way of life based on the vision of Oneness. The schedule of all the programes were planned aligning with the International Day of Yoga protocol.
