Gurupurnima is one of the five Utsavas celebrated in Vivekananda Kendra. In Kendra, Omkara is revered as the Guru, and Gurupurnima is celebrated grandly by all branch centers and projects of Vivekananda Kendra across Bharat.

Every year Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Arunachal Prant, Lohit Vibhag, Roing Nagar observes Gurupurnima by honoring and paying tribute to local traditional priests who serve society selflessly.

This year, Roing Nagar celebrated Gurupurnima at Midland Roing Gangging (Traditional Adi Community Mandir) on 28th July 2024. The event began with the traditional Adi Gangging prayer, setting a reverent tone for the occasion. Smt. Sumila Lingi, Nagar Pramukh of Roing, delivered the welcome address and provided a brief introduction about Vivekananda Kendra. This was followed by Adharneeya Gebi Didi, Nagar Sanchalak of Roing, who felicitated the esteemed Adi Miri priest, Shri Kokep Mitkong Ji.

The felicitation honored Shri Mitkong Ji's 30 years of selfless service to the community. A total of 38 attendees expressed their gratitude and respect for his remarkable dedication. The vote of thanks was given by Sri Apiju Pulu Ji, Sampark Pramukh of Roing. The celebration was a heartfelt tribute to Shri Mitkong Ji's tireless efforts and a testament to the impact of his commitment to the society's well-being.
