Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Tamilnadu Vibhag, Vivekananda Kendra Rural Development Programme carried out relief works after heavy rainfall and floods in the southern states of Tamil Nadu.
On December 21, 2023, meals were prepared and distributed to residents in flood-affected areas of Thoothukudi. Approximately 500 individuals, lacking access to basic necessities, received three meals a day. Arrangements for essential supplies such as bedsheets and clothes for about 200 people are underway.
The relief operations in Thoothukudi are conducted by Kendra volunteers, aided by Melur Shakthi Peedam, Rotary Club Thoothukudi, and local volunteers. The guidance of Mananeeya Sri Hanumanta Rao Ji, All India Vice President of VRM & VK, and Mananeeya Sri Bhanudas Dhakras Ji, All India General Secretary of VRM & VK, has steered these efforts.
On December 29, 2023, Vivekananda Kendra Rural Development Programme distributed vital supplies like rice, groceries, mats, blankets, footwear, and drinking water bottles to 75 flood-affected families in the initial phase of the flood relief work, at VK-RDP karyalaya in Thoothukudi.
