VIVEKA MITHRA – 2012 at Valioor

To celebrate the 150th Birthday of Swami Vivekananda in a grand way, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya and Rural Development Program, Vallioor organized Vivek Mithra 2012 –a Mega 5000 Suryanamaskar Program - on 24th January 2012 at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Vallioor premises with the purpose to instill Swami Vivekananda’s thoughts, self confidence, inner courage and service attitude in the students. Over 4000 students from 21 schools of Tirukurangudi,Dhalapathisamudram,Thiruvenkadanathapuram, VadakkanKulam,Eruvadi, Nanguneri, Panagudi, Kottaiadi and Vallioor performed;and 90 teachers and 400 people witnessed them.

The Program began at 10.30 a.m. with prayer by students. Sri.S.K.Subramanian, Correspondent of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Vallioor welcomed the gathering, Sri.Krishnamurthiji, Editor ‘Vivekavani’, explained the benefits of Yoga and Sri Ganesan Professor Satish Dhawan Scientist (Former AD-LPSC, Mahendragiri) LPSC- Trivandrum, in his Key note address advised the student to become scientist by practicing Yoga. Su.Aparna Didi, All India Vyavastha Pramukh of Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari also blessed the event.

And then, the students began their performance. The Mantras were being chanted and with every count followed by drum beat, all the 4000+ students, together harmoniously gracefully went from one step to the next. The 12 steps of the Suryanamaskar were performed 12 times. The audience was thrilled by their performance. Never before, the small town of Vallioor had witnessed such an event!
