Vivekananda Kendra Brahmapur celebrated Universal Brotherhood Day on September 12, 2010. School level competitions for Recitation of Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago Address (English/ Odiya) and Patriotic Song competitions were conducted on 5th September 2010. 87 students from 13 schools participated in the competitions. The prize distribution ceremony of these competitions and Universal Brotherhood Day celebrations were organised on 12th September 2010. Major Rama Raman Padhi, Principal, Science College, Hinjilikatu was the chief guest and Shri. Jammula Sankar Narayan, Secretary, Sanjay Memorial Institute of Technology, Brahmapur was the Guest of Honour on the occasion.
Shri. Jammula Sankar Narayan told that youth should have Swamiji as ideal in their life. Major Padhi narrated the life of Swamiji in brief and asked students become patriot like him. The gathering was attended by students, parents, teachers and Kendra karyakartas.
Vimarsha: A dialogue for Creative Leaders
Vivekananda Kendra Brahmapur initiated a study circle for Intelligentsia named as Vimarsha: A dialogue for Creative Leaders on the occasion of Universal Brotherhood Day on 12th September 2010. The topic for the discussion was “Secularism in India”.
The topic was initiated by Shri. Laxmi Narayan Panigrahy, Life worker of Vivekananda Kendra and Prakalpa Sangathak, Utkal Seva Prakalpa. The key speakers were Shri. Krishna Chandra Nayak, Former Principal, D. P. Institute of Advanced Studies in Education and Dr. Sachidananda Padhy, Former Principal, Science College, Chattrapur. Shri. K.C. Nayak ji spoke about the present-day understanding of the word ‘Secularism’, about its constitutional definition and the consequences. Dr. Sachidananda Padhy discussed about the words “Bharat: the Nation”, “Dharma” and then “Nirapekshata: Secularism”. 55 intellectuals, professionals and Karyakartas attended the program.
