The Yoga Shiksha Shibir was held at Vivekanand Kendra, Kanyakumari between 1st to 15th May 2022, With this the YCC new batch also started. Total 56 participants attended the shivir who came from various states like Maharashtra, Gujrat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Aasam, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamilnadu & Kerala.
Formal reporting and registrations started from the morning on 30th April and introductory session was held the same day in the evening after Bhajan Sandhya & Supper wherein participants were given orientation of the camp.
Medium of the camp was Hindi & English.Participants were organized into 7 different groups that were named after ShadDarshan Pranetas Kapil, Patanjali, Gautama, Kanad, Jaimini, Vyas and seventh as Vashishth.
The 15 days camp had morning prayers, yogabhyas, pranayama, shramsanskar, theory sessions, group discussions, chanting practice, bhajan sandhyas & prerana se punrutthan sessions.
In yoga practicals, participants were taught loosening exercises, suryanamaskaras and various asanas that are done in a particular way. In pranayama practice they were trained into a systematic order of pranayamas that follows a sequence for optimum benefit.
Theory lectures comprised of sessions on concept of yoga, yama, niyama, aasana, pranayama, antrang yoga,kriya-bandha-mudras, yoga & food, bhagvad gita , karmayoga, jnanayoga, bhaktiyoga, anand mimansa, omkara & Indian culture.
There were lectures about Swami Vivekananda, Ma. Eknathji, Story of Rock Memorial, Kendra Prarthana & Sanghe Shakti Kaliyuge.
All these were followed by Manthan i.e. group discussions so participants could get deeper insights and express their understanding about the subjects.
In Geet Abhyas satras, participants were taught various chantings that included shanti mantra, Aikya mantra, pratahsmaran prayer, bhagvadgeeta karmayog shloksamgraha & Shivir geet along with few other songs.
Participants did Shuddhikriyas Jalneti, Sutraneti & Vaman dhauti twice during the Shivir. They practiced Trataka as well in a session and also experienced Omkara Dhyan & Cyclic Meditation during the shivir.
Daily bhajan sandhyas added a flavour of Bhakti & emotional culture through devotional chantings.
Pure & Satvik food devised according to the routine was a part of daily diet which supported the yogsadhana of the participants throughout the days.
Prerana se punrutthan sessions introduced participants to various VK activities & projects and also helped them unwind through actions songs, games & cultural performances.
Shramsanskar sessions instilled attitude of service, cleanliness & self sufficiency into the participants.
All took part in ‘Kendra Vargas’ on 2 Sundays during the shivir. Participants visited Rock memorial on 5th May that stands as a source of inspiration & energy for all. They also had darshan of Kanyakumari temple. On 10th May participants trekked onto Marutvamalai hill which is a very significant mountain in many ways.On 11th May they went to see 3 exhibitions in the campus; Gangotri, Arise-Awake and Ramayana Darshanam which gave them an idea and outline about Swamijis Vision, Ekanathjis life and chronology of the epic Ramayana.
The Shivir went on well in a congenial, spiritual atmosphere with moderate discipline and affection.
Many of the participants have expressed their willingness to devote their time & energy for the service of the society through Kendra activities.
