Universal Brotherhood Day, celebrated annually on September 11, commemorates the profound message of Universal Brotherhood delivered by Swami Vivekananda at the Parliament of Religions in Chicago on September 11, 1893. It is one of the five Utsavas celebrated by Vivekananda Kendra across all its branches in Bharat.
This year, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, West-Bengal Prant, Eknath Vibhag, organized Universal Brotherhood Day programs at eight locations across seven Karyasthans of Eknath Vibhag, with a total of 993 participants. The details of the programs are as follows:
On September 11, 2024, VK Dakshineswar Nagar Karyastan held a program at Ramakrishna Vivekananda Mission, Agarpara, attended by 50 participants. Swami Nityarupanandaji Maharaj from the Ramakrishna Vivekananda Mission School and Adaraneeya Malabika Chatterjee, Sah Prant Pramukh of VK Paschimbanga Prant, graced the occasion and addressed the audience.
On the same day, Bidhannagar Karyastan organized a program at BE 78, Salt Lake City, with 26 participants. Sri Sajal Mandal ji, Principal of Labanhrad Vidyapith, served as the keynote speaker.
On September 14, 2024, Vivekananda Nagar Karyastan hosted a program at Vivekananda Society, Chaltabagan. Dr. Mananjali Bandopadhaya, a faculty member at Vidyasagar University, and Sri Joydeep Dasgupta, a renowned journalist and well-wisher of Kendra, were the keynote speakers. This event was attended by 50 people.
On September 15, 2024, Madhusudan Nagar Karyastan organized a program at Netaji Sangha Club, with 40 participants. The keynote speaker was Sri Niladri Sekhar Paul, a chemical engineer and Kendra well-wisher.
On September 16, 2024, Vande Mataram Nagar Karyastan organized a Swadesh Parjay Music and Recitation competition at the premises of Hooghly Women's College. A total of 184 participants registered, with 151 actively participating. Including parents, judges, and Karyakartas, the overall attendance was 300.
On September 19, 2024, Netaji Nagar Karyastan conducted a Swadesh Mantra competition and Universal Brotherhood Day program at Nivedita High School, Kamalgazi, with 30 students participating in the competition in three groups. Mananeeya Sri Pravinji Dabholkar, All-India Treasurer of VRM & VK, graced the occasion and addressed the audience, resulting in 130 total participants.
On September 20, 2024, Vande Mataram Nagar Karyastan organized a Universal Brotherhood Day program at Hooghly Women's College Hall, attracting 330 participants. The keynote speakers were Swami Vidyanandaji Maharaj, Sah Sampadak of Ramakrishna Vedanta Math, and Adaraneeya Malabika Chatterjee, Saha Prant Pramukh of VK Paschimbanga Prant.
On September 22, 2024, Sadhak Ramprasad Nagar Karyastan hosted a program at Ramkrishna Seva Sangha, Sahid Nagar, Kanchrapara, North 24 Parganas. Speakers included Swami Achyutanandaji Maharaj and Sri Niladri Sekhar Paul. This event saw the participation of 67 people.
The schedule of the each program comprised a Shanti Pat, welcome address, songs, Vivekvani, reading the letter from Mananeeya Nivedita Didi regarding Universal Brotherhood Day, speakers' addresses, a vote of thanks, and Shanti mantra.
