As part of the International Day of Yoga 2026 celebrations, Vivekananda Kendra Rural Development Programme (VKRDP), Kovilpatti Branch (Tamil Nadu Prant), organized a special yoga programme on 19 June 2026 at Auro World – A Centre for Gifted Children, Sattur, Virudhunagar District.
The programme was specially designed for children with autism, with the objective of introducing yoga as a means to enhance physical well-being, concentration, and emotional balance. Shri A. Velusamy, Yoga Pramukh, VKRDP Kovilpatti, conducted the session. He demonstrated simple and appropriate yogic practices that could be comfortably performed by the children.
The children enthusiastically participated in the session according to their individual abilities, with the active support and encouragement of their teachers and parents. The programme beautifully reflected this year's International Day of Yoga theme, "Yoga for Healthy Ageing," by highlighting the inclusive and therapeutic benefits of yoga for people of all abilities and age groups.
A total of 32 children, along with 24 teachers and parents, participated in the programme, making it a meaningful and inspiring celebration of yoga and inclusivity.
