Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Tamil Nadu Vibhag, Madurai Brach, celebrated Gita Jayanti at Kendra Karyalaya in Murugan Vistar (Balaji Nagar, Thiruparankundram) on 22nd December, 2023, with the participation of 59 people.
‘Manitha-theni’ Shri. R. Chockalingam, the President of Kaviyarasu Kannadasan Narpani Mandram, Madurai, graced the occasion as the chief guest and delivered a keynote address on the topic ‘Strength of Gita and the Greatness of Swami Vivekananda’. In his keynote address, Shri. R. Chockalingam shared the following thoughts:
• Mahakavi Bharathi, the Tamil Poet & Social Reformer, advocated, “Master the History.” Swami Vivekananda reinvigorated history in an accessible manner, reaching every youth of the country with his discourses. Through his teachings, a new perspective of India was born among the westerners.
• Quoted the verses from the Gita, “Offer all your responsibilities unto me, Do your duty in life, Take refuge in me”.
• Swami Vivekananda was the one who sowed the seed of spiritual thought in every individual, previously only prevalent among a few rishis and spiritualists.
• Lord Krishna preached the Holy Gita and guided all the people in the path shown by the Vedas. Similarly, Swami Vivekananda explained the concepts of Hinduism in a very clear and simple way.
Notably, the event saw increased participation from women and youth. Philosopher Sri. Pon Manokaran and Poet Ko were among the attendees. All the attendees were offered Prasad after concluding the program.
