Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Uttar Prant, Delhi Branch, in collaboration with the Vivekananda Study Circle, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, organized a Speech Competition on 17 September 2026 at DDU College, Delhi, to commemorate Universal Brotherhood Day. The programme witnessed a total participation of 90 people, including 55 students from 14 colleges of the University of Delhi.
Universal Brotherhood Day commemorates Swami Vivekananda’s historic address at the World’s Parliament of Religions in Chicago on 11 September 1893. Through his message of acceptance, harmony and the oneness of humanity, Swamiji presented Bharat’s spiritual vision before the world. The occasion continues to inspire young people to rise above differences and cultivate a spirit of mutual respect, unity and service.
The students participated enthusiastically in the competition and presented well-prepared speeches reflecting on the message and contemporary relevance of Universal Brotherhood. The competition provided them with an opportunity to express their thoughts and deepen their understanding of Swami Vivekananda’s vision.
During the concluding ceremony, Shri Nikhil Ji, Prant Sah Pramukh, Uttar Prant, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, was present as the Chief Guest. Shri Hemchand Jain Ji, Principal, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, also graced the occasion.
The three best speakers were awarded cash prizes, while 10 participants received consolation prizes in recognition of their performance. The programme provided a meaningful platform for college students to reflect upon Swami Vivekananda’s timeless message of Universal Brotherhood and its relevance in building a harmonious society.
