Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Tamilnadu Vibhag, Coimbatore Niyojit Nagar organized Universal Brotherhood Day Program on 21st September 2024 Saturday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Keartiman Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Kanuvai, Coimbatore. 110 people participated in the event including the school Students, teachers, parents and well wishers and Karyakartas of VK coimbatore.
Sri. R Kishore Kumar, Archery Coach, Kishore's school of Archery was the chief guest and Sri. Balaji ji, Managing Committee Member, VRM & VK presided over the program. Sri Praful Sejpal ji, General Body Member of VRM & VK and Sri Raman ji, elder brother of Sri Balaji ji, who was PA to Swami Dayananda Saraswathi for more than 32 years also attended the programme.
The program started with prayer song by the 10th Standard students of Keartiman Matriculation Higher Secondary School. Followed by that, Sri. Venkatesa Sharma ji, Member of Vivekananda Kendra Coimbatore team welcomed the gathering. Smt. Thangalakshmi, Tamil Nadu Vibhag Pramukh, VRM & VK introduced the guests. Sri. Balaji ji, felicitated the chief guest Sri. Kishore Kumar ji.
Sri Kishore Kumar addressed the gathering and motivated the students by sharing a few incidents from his life and connecting them with Swamiji's quotations. He grabbed the attention of students by discussing about the brain dominance testing and encouraged them to be more creative. He interacted with the students and gifted books to those who participated actively.
Smt. Thangalakshmi akka briefed about Vivekananda Rock Memorial & Vivekananda Kendra and it's service activities. Followed by that, Sri. Balaji ji, delivered his address on the significance of celebrating Universal Brotherhood Day.
In honor of Universal Brotherhood Day, essay writing and oratorical competitions were held on select lectures of Swami Vivekananda delivered in Chennai, including "The Future of India," "The Work Before Us," and "My Plan of Campaign." A total of 88 students from two schools—Keartiman Matriculation Higher Secondary School and GD Matriculation Higher Secondary School—participated in the competitions, which were conducted in both English and Tamil. Prizes were distributed to the winners by the chief guest and other dignitaries. The event concluded with Shanti Mantra.
