Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Kerala Vibhag, Thiruvananthapuram Branch organized a one day Teachers’ Orientation Workshop under the title ‘Samartha’ at Sree Saraswathy Vidyalayam, Senior Secondary School, Ooruttambalam, Thiruvananthapuram.
The workshop was held on 30th September, 2023 from 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. In total, there were 93 participants, including 84 teachers from 5 Vidyalayas, 4 Karyakartas, and 5 members from the School Management.
The workshop commenced with a prayer, and Shri. Raghunathan Ji briefly presented about the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the service activities of Vivekananda Kendra. This was followed by a discussion led by Dakshin Prant Sangathak Mananeeya Radha Devi Didi on the expectations of the participants and the vital role of teachers as nation builders, including the qualities of an ideal teacher.
Shri. Arjun Ji then conducted Yoga and Pranayama session. Kum. Kalyani Didi and Smt. Prasoona Didi led the Geet and Bhajan segment. The value games were conducted by Sri. Raghunathan Ji, Sri. Arjun Ji, Kum. Kalyani Didi, and Ma. Radha Devi Didi.
The workshop concluded with a group discussion on the topic 'Teachers as Nation builders' guided by Mananeeya Radha Devi Didi. This was followed by a session of guided meditation and the Shanti Mantra.
After the one-day workshop, teachers provided written feedback and also shared their thoughts during the concluding session. Two teachers expressed their intention to join the Kendra after their retirement as Vanaprasthi, and they obtained the contact numbers of the Karyakartas. Additionally, Shri. Sreejith Ji, the school's Yoga teacher, and his wife are planning to join YSS in the month of November.
