Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Tamil Nadu Vibhag, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Kanyakumari organized the Sports Day at the school premises on February 09, 2024, starting from 2 p.m.
Dr. A. Prabhu Marachan, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Physics, Vivekananda Arts and Science College, Agasteeswaram, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, and Kum. K. Asmitha from XII B served as the master of ceremony. A total of 1,160 students participated in the event.
The sports day celebration commenced with an invocation song. Kum. D.P. Sundareshwari of class IX C welcomed the gathering. Sri. Ajith sir, the Physical Education Teacher of the school, delivered a speech on the importance of sports day.
In his address, Chief Guest Dr. A. Prabhu Marachan shared valuable insights, advising students to exercise daily, wake up early, affirm "I can do it" to boost self-confidence, visualize their goals, maintain daily journals, respect their parents, and uphold honesty.
Following that, the chief guest honoured the winners who actively participated in sports, with Kum. Abinaya Lakshmi announcing the prize list. Smt. K.G. Sariga, the Principal of the school, presented a memento to the Chief Guest in appreciation of his presence. Kum. N. Nadasha of class IX B then extended a vote of thanks, concluding the event with Kendra prarthana.
