Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Karnataka Vibhag, Mysore Branch, Hanumanalu Karyasthan, organized a Kishori Vikas Shibir on 23rd November 2024 at Vivekananda Sabhangana, Hanumanalu. A total of 58 participants, including 40 students and 18 Karyakartas, attended the event.

The Shibir commenced with Deepa Prajwalan (lighting of the ceremonial lamp) by students, followed by a prayer. The program was presided over by Sri Muralidharji, Sri Siddegowdaji, and Smt. Geeta Didi. A melodious patriotic song, ‘Shakti Sambrutam..’, was sung in a lead-and-follow format, setting the tone for the event. This was followed by engaging value-based games.

Smt. Geeta Muralidhar Didi guided the overall activities, and Smt. Tanuja Mataji served as the Shibir Pramukh. The 40 student participants were organized into four Ganas (teams) named after inspiring leaders: Ahalyabai Holkar, Jijabai, Jhansi Rani Laxmibai, and Akka Nivedita. Each team was led by a Gana Pramukh: Smt. Shoba Mataji, Smt. Navya Mataji, Smt. Shalini didi, and Kum. Varshita Mataji. Additionally, student leaders were selected from each group to assist in coordination.

Su. Soumya Didi, Sah Pramukh of Kannada Prakashan Vibhag, taught the participants the patriotic song ‘Ninatma Nischala Iralu’ and introduced important Mudras. This was followed by a session led by Kum. Supriya Didi, Sah Nagar Pramukh, who taught breathing exercises, loosening exercises, Surya Namaskara, and various Asanas.

The next session was conducted by Smt. Gayatri Akka, Amruta Pariwara Pramukh, on the topic of “Kishori Arogya and Swachata.” The session also included a lively Q&A segment. This was followed by a session on “Kishori Suraksha” by Su. Soumya Didi and another on “Merits and Demerits of Social Media, Cosmetics, and Beauty” by Kum. Supriya Didi, who shared the inspiring example of President Droupadi Murmuji.

After lunch, the students participated in group activities such as skits, slogans, and games. A session on ‘Shreyas and Preyas’ was conducted by Smt. Tanuja Didi, complemented by a game emphasizing the session's themes.

The Shibir concluded with motivational guidance from Smt. Geeta Didi, who tied the learnings to the lives of great personalities like Ahalyabai Holkar, Jijabai, Jhansi Rani, and Akka Nivedita. She delivered her advice in Kannada, ensuring better connection with the participants. Finally, Kum. Krutika, Kum. Manasa, and Kum. Ranjita shared their experiences of attending the Shibir.

The program concluded with the Shanti Mantra and Kendra Prarthana led by Supriya Didi. As a follow-up to this successful shibir, there are plans to initiate a Swadhyaya Varga for the participants.
