Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Tamil Nadu Vibhag, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Vallioor celebrated Gita Jayanti on 11th December 2024 at the school’s Assembly Hall. The event began at 11 a.m. and witnessed the participation of 480 students and 40 teachers.
The programme commenced with a prayer, setting a spiritual tone for the event. The Chief Guest, Dr. Smt. Vanila, a Retired Professor of Botany from TDMNS College, T. Kallikulam, presided over the function. She inaugurated the event with Deepa Prajwalan (lighting the lamp), followed by the Correspondent and the Principal of the school. Kum. Shiny of Class VIII delivered the welcome address, warmly greeting the attendees.
The students recited Gita shlokas, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere. This was followed by a vibrant Krishna dance performance by the students, which captivated the audience with its grace and energy. Smt. Saravana Usha, one of the teachers, delivered an enlightening speech about the significance of Gita Jayanti. A letter written by Maneeya Nivedita Didi, All-India Vice President of VRM&VK was read aloud to the students by teacher Kum. Pitchammal, adding an inspiring touch to the event.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Smt. Vanila, delivered the felicitation address, motivating the students and teachers alike. To express gratitude, the Correspondent, Mr. S.K. Subramanian ji, presented a memento to the Chief Guest. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Sri Gopi of Class X, expressing appreciation for everyone involved in the celebration. Kum. Sharon Viji of Class XI efficiently compered the entire programme. The programme concluded with the chanting of the Shanti Mantra.
