Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Arunachal Prant, Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti, organized a Free Eye Screening Camp at the Community Health Centre in Hawai, Anjaw district, from 4th to 6th October 2024. The camp was supported by the district administration and the health department.
Dr. Udayan Dixit ji, a renowned ophthalmologist from Pune, Maharashtra, volunteered his services during the camp, providing much-needed care to patients from this remote area. A total of 194 patients were examined over the three days. Many of these patients came from distant villages in the Anjaw district and greatly benefitted from the camp.
Fifteen cataract patients were identified, and their surgeries will be performed soon at the Zonal General Hospital in Tezu. Additionally, 45 pairs of reading glasses were distributed free of cost to patients in need, and eye medications were generously donated by Entod Pharmaceuticals, Mumbai.
Dr. Udayan Dixit has previously conducted free eye camps in Khonsa, Longding, and Wakro, treating over 700 patients. His continued dedication to serving remote areas is commendable.
It is noteworthy that Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti has been organizing eye screening camps across various locations in Arunachal Pradesh. To date, more than 500 cataract surgeries have been successfully completed.
