Bhagwad Gita Jayanti was celebrated at Dronacharya Post Graduate College of Education at Rait, organized jointly by college>management and Vivekananda Kendra Kanayakumari branch Kangra on December 10. Bhagwad Gita Jayanti symbolizes the birth of holy scripture, Bhagwad Gita.
Shri P.R.Agnihotri Nagar Sanchalak Kangra Nagar presided over the function. Bhramkumari Kavita Didi from Gian Surya Niketan Chandigarh was key speaker who stressed on adopting the path shown by Bhagwad Gita to lead a purposeful of life. She exhorted upon the youth to follow the preaching of this holy scripture and lead a happy and contented life. The main theme today was ‘ Relevance of Bagwat Gita during student life’.
Dr.Parveen Sharma, Principal Dronacharya PGCollege of Education said that in Kalyuga if one is to spend a peaceful life he must come closer to this religious scripture.
He spoke about the relevance of Bhagwad Gita in the present scenario and stressed on the audience to be close to the teachings of Bhagwad Gita as it was code of conduct how one should live. The other guests on the occasion said that devaluation in moral and human values was because people were away from great Vedic scriptures like Bhagwad Gita.
They stressed on the students that they should read and infuse Bhagwad Gita in their life when they enter colleges and this would certainly help to keep the present generation away from the menace of drugs and alcohol which was eroding the roots of the society. They said that by going close to Bhagwad Gita one can live a holistic life and can contribute for the development of the society in right perspective.
P.R..Agnihotri also addressed the gathering. The girl students presented Bajans and recited Vedic hymns at the beginning of the program. Kendra had arranged fruits for the distribution among the students and other people who attended the program. 500 students and other dignitaries attended the function.
