Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Tamil Nadu Vibhag, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Kanyakumari, celebrated Children’s Day with great enthusiasm on 14th November 2024. The event was held at Swami Vivekananda Sabhagriham from 2 p.m., with a total of 1,170 participants in attendance.
The program was graced by the presence of Dr. C. Rathika, M.Sc., M.Phil., Ph.D., Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Chemistry at Rohini College of Engineering & Technology, Paulkulam, who served as the Chief Guest. Sri Krishna Kumarji, Vanaprasthi Karyakartha of Vivekananda Rock Memorial & Vivekananda Kendra, attended as the Special Guest. Kum. F. Angel Dhivya of XI-A anchored the event.
The celebration began with an invocation sung by Class VII girl students. Kum. Bala Jashmitha of Std VI-B extended a warm welcome to all, followed by a short yet insightful talk on the importance of Children’s Day delivered by Kum. Rahina of Std VII. The students exhibited their creative talents through a handwritten magazine titled "Vivekamanjari," emphasizing the importance of books and reading. The Chief Guest, Dr. Rathika, officially released the magazine and addressed the gathering.
In her speech, Dr. Rathika stressed the importance of science and technology in everyday life and urged students to adopt a practical approach to learning. She advised the students to develop their knowledge continuously, stay updated, and use mobile phones responsibly, pointing out the potential drawbacks of excessive usage. She also discussed the significance of electricity, its production, and responsible usage, inspiring the students to think critically about these aspects.
Adding to the celebration, the students of Class VII sang a soulful song in Tamil, which was appreciated by everyone present.
The Special Guest, Sri Krishna Kumarji, motivated the students by discussing themes related to the exhibition and engaging with them through an interactive session. His inspiring words encouraged the students to explore their potential and aspire to make meaningful contributions.
As a token of appreciation, Sri Krishna Kumarji presented a memento to the Chief Guest, Dr. Rathika. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Kum. Pooja Sree of Std VIII, followed by the Kendra Prarthana.
