Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Karnataka Vibhag, JP Nagar Branch, organized a Bhajan Sandhya at Sri Anand Gadre Ji's house on 31st August 2024, at 6:30 p.m. The event was attended by 15 people, including four Karyakartas from JP Nagar and eleven well-wishers from the JP Nagar area.
The Bhajan Sandhya began with the chanting of 3 Omkars and the Shanti Pat. Devotees sang various bhajans dedicated to Guru, Ganapati, Ram, and Krishna in multiple languages, including Marathi, Kannada, and Hindi. The structure of the bhajans followed a lead-and-follow format.
Sri Ramesh Bhat Ji, Sah Nagar Pramukh of the VK JP Nagar, introduced all the well-wishers to the Dakshina Kannada/Tulunadu style of bhajan singing by leading the group in reciting the Dashavatar bhajan while dancing in a circle. He explained how devotees in the Mangalore/Udupi region traditionally sing bhajans by dancing in circles around a Tulsi Vrindavan. The atmosphere created by the chorus of all participants was very serene and uplifting.
The Sandhya concluded with an Aarti, and Prasad was served to all participants.
