Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Keralam Prant, Guruvayur Branch, organized an Amrit Parivar Milan on 27 September 2026 at the residence of Shri Jayathilakan Ji. The programme was held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and witnessed the participation of 15 members.
The milan (get-together) commenced with Deepa Prajwalan by Vijaya Chechi, followed by three Omkaras and the Shanti Mantra. Adv. Gopinath Ji, a new member of Amrit Parivar, was introduced to the gathering, after which Shri Harilal Ji gave a brief introduction to the concept and purpose of Amrit Parivar.
The participants collectively rendered four selected Bhajans led by Shri Kannan Ji. This was followed by a Swadhyaya session in which Latha Chechi and Shri Kannan Ji explained the meaning of the first Shloka of the Bhagavad Gita, followed by a brief discussion. The meaning and significance of “Sahana Vavatu” and the Shanti Mantra were also discussed. The participants further reflected on the meanings of Jnana and Vijnana, as well as Shrama and Parishrama.
During the interaction, Adv. Gopinath Ji shared his views on the influence of British and Western systems on Bharatiya education and discussed contemporary efforts towards restoring Bharatiya perspectives in education. The participants also discussed the importance of parents understanding Hindu traditions and values and setting a positive example for their children through their own conduct.
The purposeful and interactive get-together provided an opportunity for Swadhyaya, Bhajan and collective reflection on family and cultural values. The programme concluded with the chanting of the Shanti Mantra.
