Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Tamil Nadu Vibhag, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Vallioor celebrated the 76th Republic Day with patriotic fervor on 26th January 2025 at the school premises.
The event was presided over by Shri S.K. Subramanian Ji, Correspondent of the school, while Shri K. Venkateshan ji, Senior Advocate, Vallioor, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. A total of 700 people, including 650 students and 50 parents, participated in the celebration.
The program began with a warm welcome by the students. The Chief Guest, Shri K. Venkateshan, unfurled the National Flag, followed by the salute to the flag and the singing of the Flag Song and ‘Vande Mataram’ song. The welcome address was delivered by Kum. Muthu Sankari, a student of Class XI.
The event featured a variety of cultural performances that reflected the patriotic spirit of the day. Students performed Bharatanatyam and a patriotic dance to set the tone for the celebration. These were followed by impactful speeches on Republic Day, delivered in Tamil by Ms. M. Subbu Lakshmi, a teacher, and in English by Ms. K.R. Remya, another teacher.
Adding to the excitement, students demonstrated their skills in martial arts such as Silambam and karate, which were met with enthusiastic applause from the audience.
The Chief Guest, Shri K. Venkateshan, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of Republic Day and the responsibilities of citizens in building a better nation. The celebration continued with the distribution of prizes to sports winners by the Chief Guest, Correspondent, and Principal. A memento was then presented to the Chief Guest by the Correspondent as a token of gratitude.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Kum. Shebika, a student of Class VIII, followed by the National Anthem. Sweets were distributed to all students and parents.
