A state level leadership development camp named “Vijay hi Vijay” was organized by Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Odisha prant in Hi-Tech Medical college campus, Pandara - Bhubaneswar from 20th Dec to 25th Dec 2011. The residential camp participants included 704 graduation and PG level students and 30 prabharis (coordinators, Teachers) representing 25 districts of Odisha alongwith 161 Karyakartas from across the country. The campers were blessed by the guidance received from the Vice Presidents of Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari - Mananeeya A. Balakrishnanji and Mananeeya Nivedita didi and the All India General Secretary Mananeeya Bhanudasji.
The camp was formally inaugurated with lighting the lamp by Sj Badrinarayan Patra, Hon’ble Minister Higher Education, Sports & Youth affairs, Govt of Odisha on 20th December 2011 at 4.00 pm. Sj Tirupati Panigarhi, Chairman of Hi-Tech group of institutions was the Guest of Honour on this occasion.
The daily routine of the camp was so designed as to bring out the best leadership qualities within each youth. The camp routine started at 4.30 am everyday and continued till 10.00 pm in the night. The daily routine started with Pratahsmaran at 5.15 AM followed by ‘Pariksha De Hasate Hasate’, a Yoga module specially designed for students and Utthan Yoga chanting (collection of such shlokas from Gita which exorts Arjuna to stand up and do his duty). Breakfast was followed up by Shramasanskar, where in the students cleaned their rooms and campus. At 10 am there were Prerak Kshan, where achievers from various fields were felicitated and they shared they in turn motivated the youths with their experiences. Dr Shruti Mohapatra, Social Worker & CEO – SWABHIMAN, leading disability information and resource centre and Sri K. Ravi Kumar, CWG Gold Medallist in weightlifting and receiver of ARJUNA AWARD-2011 shared their experiences with the participants. Everyday there were two thematic lecture sessions at 10.30 AM and 3.30 PM, manthan after the first lecture session, practical sessions and games , bhajan sandhya, question and answer session and Prerana se Punarutthan. Sri Nishikanta Mohapatra , social activist, Swami Nirliptananda, Chinmaya Mission, Deuldhia apprised the participants of RTI Act and Rural Enterprenurship respectively in the practical session. In the thematic lecture sessions Mananeeyaa Nivedita didi, Sri Gangadhar Nanda, Mananeeya Balakrishananji, Mananeeya Bhanudasji and Sj. Lakshmi Narayanaji spoke on the topics specially designed to infuse leadership attitude and qualities in the participants. The topics basically covered the concept of Greatness and Uniqueness of our country, India’s role in the evolution of humanity, The Challenges before the Nation and its solution through organized efforts. On the last day of this camp i.e. 25th Dec the activities concluded with ahuti satra at 9 AM. All participants offered flowers before ‘AUM’ and took sankalpa to do Swamiji’s work of “Man Making - Nation Building” at their level .The camp formally concluded with a meeting presided by the Odisha Pranta Sanchalak Sj Surasen Jena with Pujya Paramahamsa Prajnananandaji of Kriya Yoga ashram Puri, as the CHIEF GUEST in presence of Mananeeya Nivedita Didi, Vice President VK Kanyakumari and Mananeeya Bhanudasji, General Secretary VK Kanyakumari. Sri Himanshu Shekhar Pattnaik, Shibir Pramukh presented the Shibir report in the programme.
Inspired by the camp all the participants resolved to celebrate Swami Vivekananda Jayanti on 12th January 2012 in their respective Colleges and also to devote some time regularly for the society throughout the year. 355 students showed their desire to work full time for some duration in different parts of Odisha.
