Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Tamil Nadu Vibhag, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Vallioor celebrated Vijaya Dashami and Vidyarambham at the school premises on 24th October, 2023. A total of 75 people participated in the programme.
Vidyarambham, also known as Akshara Abhyasam, is a significant Hindu tradition observed on Vijayadasami, the final day of Navratri. This day is considered highly auspicious for initiating the learning journey, particularly for young children.
The Vijayadasami and Vidyarambham celebration commenced with a prayer led by teacher Ms. G. Bavani. The program was inaugurated by lighting the lamp, with the honorable Chief Guest, Sri. Ayyappan ji, the Secretary of VK-RDP, Sri. S.K. Subramanian ji, the correspondent of the school, Sri. T. MuthuKrishnan ji, the principal of the school. Following this, teacher Ms. M. Subbu Lakshmi, delivered a welcome address and provided an introduction to the significance of Vijayadasami.
A Golu display was also arranged in the school with the active participation of both teachers and students. On this auspicious day, a puja was conducted with the chanting of Mantras by the priest. Our honorable Chief Guest, Sri. Ayyappan ji, delivered an eloquent speech about Swami Vivekananda and emphasized the importance of the Vidyarambham celebration.
Subsequently, Chief Guest Sri. Ayyappanji, Correspondent Sri. S.K. Subramanianji, and Principal Sri. T. Muthukrishnan ji, led the Vidyarambham ceremony, guiding the children to write the sacred mantra 'Om' in turmeric rice. Nearly 25 parents attended with their children, gracing the function with enthusiasm. The celebration concluded with the Kendra Prarthana.
