Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Vallioor (Tamil Nadu Prant) celebrated Universal Brotherhood Day on 11 September 2026 at the school premises. The programme witnessed the participation of 950 students and teachers.
Universal Brotherhood Day commemorates Swami Vivekananda’s historic address at the World’s Parliament of Religions in Chicago on 11 September 1893, where his opening words, “Sisters and Brothers of America,” reflected Bharat’s timeless message of universal acceptance, harmony and the oneness of humanity. The celebration aimed to introduce these values to the students and inspire them to practise brotherhood in their daily lives.
The programme commenced with a prayer song rendered by the students, followed by Deepa Prajwalan by Shri S.K. Subramanian Ji, Correspondent, VKV Vallioor, and Smt. Esakkiammal @ Devi, Principal. Kum S. Subarna welcomed the gathering.
Smt. Subbulakshmi, Teacher, presented the special Universal Brotherhood Day message of Mananeeya Nivedita Didi, Vice President, Vivekananda Kendra, highlighting the values of unity, selfless service and harmony. This was followed by a melodious song on Swami Vivekananda and a Dance presented by the students, conveying the spirit of unity and cultural oneness.
Students also presented a meaningful dialogue highlighting Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy and message, along with the significance of India’s spiritual heritage and the establishment of the Vivekananda Rock Memorial as a national monument and symbol of spiritual strength.
Kum. S. Rakshana proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Correspondent, Principal, teachers, students and all those who contributed to the programme. The celebration concluded with Kendra Prarthana, reinforcing Swami Vivekananda’s timeless message of oneness, harmony and Universal Brotherhood.
