Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, West Bengal Prant, Paschimbanga Prant, Shanti Niketan Vibhag, Durgapur Nagar in collaboration with Vivekananda Janmotsav & Seva Samiti, organized the Samartha Bharat Parva celebration and Dhuni Puja at Vivekananda Uddyan, M.A.M.C., Durgapur Nagar, on 25th December 2024. A total of 95 people attended the event.
Samartha Bharat Parva celebrates the strength of India, observed from 25th December—the first day of Swami Vivekananda's meditation on the rock in 1892—to 12th January, the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
The program began with the chanting of three Omkars followed by Shanti Pat. The celebration took place at the Dhuni Mandapam, where a Maha Yagna was conducted by Shri Shantinath Bhattacharya Ji, President of Vivekananda Janmotsav & Seva Samiti.
On the night of 24th December 1886, Swami Vivekananda and his brother disciples lit a sacred fire (Dhuni) at the residence of Baburam Maharaj in Antpur, Hooghly, and took a vow of selfless service to the nation. The Dhuni Puja is celebrated to commemorate that event.
During the program, all Karyakartas gathered around the fire and pledged to work for the nation, following Swamiji's vision. Shri Ruhidas Ghosh, Sanyojak of Shantiniketan Vibhag, then explained the significance of Samartha Bharat Parva.
Following this, Shri Pralay Dhali led the Swadesh Mantra of Swami Vivekananda, which was recited by all participants. The event concluded with the Shanti Mantra and Kendra Prarthana. Prasadam was distributed to all attendees.
