As a part of Samartha Bharat Parva celebrations, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Arunachal Prant, Manipur Vibhag organized a program to commemorate Swami Vivekananda’s Jayanti and National Youth Day on 12th January 2025. The event took place at the City College of Nursing in Imphal, and celebrated the vibrant spirit of youth. A total of 60 people attended the event.

The program commenced with the chanting of three Omkars and a prarthana. This was followed by a felicitation speech delivered by Sri S. Basantakumar Singh, Karyapaddhati Pramukh. Distinguished dignitaries graced the event, including the Chief Guest, Professor Sri W. Joytrimoy Singh, Principal of Nambol N. Sanoi College, and the Event President, Dr. Ch Chandramani Singh, Vibhag Sanchalak. Professor Sri R.K. Somorjit Singh, Imphal Nagar Sanchalak, was also present, adding significance to the occasion. A floral tribute to Swami Vivekananda by all attendees was a heartfelt gesture of respect and devotion.

Sri G. Solophin Sharma, Imphal Nagar Pramukh, delivered the welcome address. A cultural performance by Sushri Leichombam Roshini and her team captivated the audience as they presented the Manipur State Song. Adding to the highlights, Sri Shivananda Thiyam and Sushri Jennifer Thongam, both National Yogasana medalists, showcased their exceptional skills with a traditional yoga demonstration, leaving the audience in awe.

Sri Hidangmayum Jadumani Sharma, Sampark Pramukh, emphasized the significance of the day by reflecting on Swami Vivekananda’s contributions as a philosopher, author, and Indian monk who elevated Hinduism to the status of a major world religion. Shri M. Chandrababu Singh, Vibhag Pramukh, spoke about the vision and history of Vivekananda Kendra, describing its motto and objectives. He narrated how Mananeeya Sri Eknath Ranade, inspired by Swamiji’s teachings, established the spiritually oriented service mission of Vivekananda Kendra, which continues to inspire people to this day.

In his address, the Chief Guest, Professor Sri W. Jyotirmoy Singh, elaborated on Swami Vivekananda’s vision of education. He quoted Swamiji’s words, “We want that education, by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased, intellect is expanded and by which one can stand on one's own feet,” emphasizing that true education must build character, strengthen the mind, expand intellect, and enable self-reliance. He described Swamiji’s belief that education should be life-building, man-making, and character-making, comparing the process of education to nurturing a plant from a tiny seed. The Event President, Dr. Ch Chandramani Singh, enriched the gathering with insights into Swami Vivekananda’s vision and the mission of Vivekananda Kendra.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Sri L. Privobar Singh, Sah Vibhag Pramukh. The chanting of Shanti mantra, “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah” marked the concluding of the inspiring and well-organized event.
