Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari in association with District Blindness Control Society, Tinsukia, Assam organized one Free Cataract Detection camp at Ambikapur area of Sadiya sub division, Tinsukia, Assam on 15th December 2018. The mobile medical team of Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti and the ophthalmic team of Civil Hospital, Chapakhowa examined 134 patients during the camp. 18 cataract cases were detected and they will be operated on 22nd December 2018 at Civil Hospital, Chapakhowa free of cost. 33 pairs of near vision spectacles were distributed free of cost to the poor and needy elderly patients during the camp. All the patients selected for cataract surgery were examined thoroughly and their Blood pressure and Random Blood Sugar were tested by our medical team.
It is to be mentioned that Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari is organizing free cataract surgery camp since September 2018 in this remote sub division of Assam and till date 44 successful surgeries were performed.
