International Day of Yoga is celebrated with enthusiasm by all the branch centers of Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari across Bharat. Through these celebrations, Vivekananda Kendra aims to bring Yoga to the general public in its true essence, i.e., Yoga as a way of life based on the vision of Oneness.

This year, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Karnataka Vibhag, JP Nagar Branch organized two programs in celebration of the 10th International Day of Yoga program with the total participation of 190 people.

The first program was held at BMS College of Commerce and Management, VV Puram, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Dr. A. P. Prasad Ji graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Forty students participated in the event. The program began with a welcome address, followed by a speech by Dr. Prasad Ji on the importance of Yoga. This was followed by a yoga practice session under Dr. Prasad Ji's guidance. Sri H. Ramesh Bhat Ji provided a brief introduction to Vivekananda Kendra. As a follow-up, a Swadhyaya competition is planned for the students of the college.

The second program was organized at Sahakari Higher Primary School, Padmanabha Nagar, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. One hundred fifty students participated and practiced Yoga. The Head Master of the school was the Guest of Honour. The program commenced with a prayer and the Shanti Mantra. Sri C. V. Prakash Ji spoke about the importance of the International Day of Yoga and gave an introduction to Vivekananda Kendra. Ms. Rajani Didi led the Yoga session as per the IDY protocol. It was proposed to conduct Samskara Varga and Swadhyaya sessions at the school as a follow-up.
