Gurupurnima is one of the five Utsavas celebrated in Vivekananda Kendra. In Kendra, Omkara is revered as the Guru, and every year, Gurupurnima is celebrated grandly by all branch centers of Vivekananda Kendra across Bharat.
Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Kerala Vibhag, Thiruvananthapuram Branch celebrated Gurupurnima at Chinnamma Memorial Girls Higher Secondary School, Poojapura, Thiruvananthapuram, on 25th July 2024, starting at 10 a.m. A total of 95 participants attended, including 88 students, 4 teachers, and 3 Kendra Karyakarthas.
The Gurupurnima program began with a prayer by the students. Dr. Sajeev Kumar Ji from the Commerce Department delivered the welcome address. Smt. Lekha, Headmistress of the high school, and Smt. Sangeetha, Principal of the higher secondary school, shared their thoughts on the importance of the Guru.
The Chief Guest, Shri Aji Kumar Ji, spoke about the significant role of Maharshi Vyasa Muni in compiling the knowledge in the form of the four Vedas. He emphasized understanding the vision of the Vedas and practicing it in daily life. The program concluded with a vote of thanks and the Shanti Mantra. Students paid obeisance to their Principal and offered salutations to Omkara before leaving the hall.
