Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Karnataka Vibhag celebrated Gurupurnima with programs at eight locations, involving a total of 640 participants. The branch-wise details are as follows:
Marathahalli Branch:
The “Prerana - Igniting the Power of Youth” workshop for first-year Commerce students of RJS PU College in Koramangala was organized on July 20, 2024. The workshop aimed to guide students on goal setting and the path to success. During the event, Gurupurnima was also celebrated, with 198 students participating.
Hebbal Branch:
Two programs were organized with a total of 220 participants.
- On July 20, 2024, from 8.30 a.m. to 10 a.m., a Gurupurnima program was held at Shree Vijay Kumar Gupta Govt. Higher Primary School in Kempapura, North Bangalore. Students from classes 6th to 8th participated, with a total strength of 100 students, along with their teachers. The celebration included Bhajans and a quiz on the importance of Guru Purnima. Notebooks and colored pens were distributed to the children with the blessings of their teachers.
- On the evening of July 21, another program was organized at the Vivekananda Kendra Karyalaya in Hebbal with 120 participants. The event featured Guru Stotram, cultural dances, and Bhajans. Prasadam was served at the end of the cultural event.
Mysore Branch:
Two programs were organized with a total of 59 participants.
- On July 21, 2024, a program was held at Vivekananda Kendra, Jayanagar, with 28 participants. The celebration started with a prayer, followed by Guru Asthaka, Guru Stotra, Aditya Hrudyam, and Bhajans. Aadharneeya Sri C V Gopinath Ji spoke on the importance of Guru, Guru Mahime, and Guru Parampara, as well as the role of Gurus in Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism. He also highlighted the role of parents as Gurus. The celebration concluded with Kendra Prarthana.
- Another program was held at Anandalaya in Beedanahalli Village. Anandalaya Acharya Kum. Meghana guided the students, who chanted Gurushloka and sang Guru Bhajans. Thirty-one students participated in this event.
RT Nagar Branch:
Three programs were organized on July 21, 2024, with a total participation of 143 people.
- At Arsha Vidhya Kendra, Kavalbyrsandra, RT Nagar, 70 people attended. The Chief Guest, Dr. Shirish M Aherkar, addressed the participants. The schedule included a skit on Guru and Shishya, value games, and a brief introduction to Vivekananda Kendra.
- A Gurupurnima celebration was held at the Samskar Varga in MS Convent School with 28 students. The program began with three Omkaras, followed by a subhashita and a discussion on Guru Purnima. All students shared who their Gurus in life are, recited Guru Shloka, and sang Guru Bhajans. The varga concluded with Shanthi Mantra, Kendra Prarthana, and Prasada distribution.
- At the Samhitha School of Performing Arts, 31 people participated. The program started with three Omkaras, followed by Guru Shloka and Guru Bhajans. Sri Bharath Anna spoke about the Guru-Shishya Parampara. The children expressed their gratitude to their Gurus and shared wonderful stories.
