On December 21, 2023, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Tamil Nadu Vibhag, Chennai Branch, Maharishi Valmiki Nagar karyasthan (South Chennai), celebrated Gita Jayanti at Kendra Karyalaya in Triplicane from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The coordination for the program was handled by the participants of Mahila Yoga Varga. A total of 24 members of Mahila Yoga Varga participated in the programme.
The program was efficiently organized by Smt. Kavitha Akka, Saha Saiyojak, Valmiki Nagar Branch, Chennai. The event was presided over by Sri. V.V. Balasubramanian Ji, Publication In-Charge, Vivekananda Kendra Prakashan Trust, Chennai.
During the event, Sri. Balasubramanian Anna delivered an enlightening talk, offering valuable insights into Bhagavad Gita, connecting real-life scenarios to its teachings. He also provided guidance on how to approach reading Bhagavad Gita and recommended some starting books.
Kavitha Akka elaborated excellently on the concepts of Karma Yoga. Members of Mahila Yoga Varga chanted Bhagavad Gita Chapter 1 Verses along with explanations and recited 50 slokas of Vishnu Sahasranamam.
As part of the celebration, cultural programs were also presented, including a group rendition of the song ‘Maadu meikum kanne’ and a classical solo dance performance.
Kum. Bhuvaneshwari Akka, a Jeevanvrati Karyakarta from VKPT, Chennai, spoke about Maa Sri Sharada Devi as Her birthday was also commemorated. The event concluded with a Puja performed for Lord Krishna, followed by the distribution of prasadam to all attendees.
