On 2nd September 2024, the iconic Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari celebrated its 54th Anniversary. As a special gesture, the first visitor of the day was honored with a commemorative souvenir, marking the start of another remarkable year in the legacy of this national monument.
The Vivekananda Rock Memorial, a unique symbol of unity and purity, was built through a national effort led by the monumental work of Mananeeya Sri Eknath Ranade. It was dedicated to the nation on 2nd September 1970 by the then President of India, Shri V.V. Giri.
On the occasion of its 54th anniversary, the memorial welcomed Sri Nilesh M. Patel ji as its first visitor of the day, who became the 72,137,857th visitor to visit the memorial since its inauguration. Sri Patel, accompanied by his family, was warmly received by the officers of the memorial. As a mark of respect and celebration, Adharneeya Sri Avinash Ji, Public Relations Officer of the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, and Sri Thanu Ji, Rock Incharge, presented a special souvenir to the family.
It’s worth highlighting that the Vivekananda Rock Memorial celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2020 with the unique mass contact program ‘Ek Bharat Vijayi Bharat,’ which spanned the entire nation from 2019 to 2020.
Today, the Vivekananda Rock Memorial continues to draw thousands of visitors daily, serving as an eternal source of inspiration, and it continues to inspire them with Swami Vivekananda’s mission for Bharat.
