Vanakkam. We are happy and obliged to send you the activity report conducted by VKRDP. The details of our activities, for the month of August 2011, are listed for your ready reference and kind information.
- "Sri Rama Jaya Rama” Mantra was chanted during Deepa Pooja, Shivalinga Pooja and daily by our balwadi school children, cultural class students and during monthly meetings by our balwadi teachers and Social Workers. Every month nearly 5, 66, 058 times mantras were chanted in 84 localities.
- Through 74 Balwadis, 1,879 rural Children were nurtured. In all the Balwadis, Malt along with hygienically prepared highly nutritive lunch with vegetables was served during the day. And in the evening vitamin-rich cereals were provided to the children.
- In our Medicare Program, 2,050 patients were examined and treated for various common ailments, through 15 Rural Medical Centers.
- Eye camps were conducted at 6 places in which 948 were treated for their eye ailments and 297 were operated for cataract.
- In 220 Samskara Vargas, 6,703 students participated. The students were taught about the values of Indian Culture, through games, lectures & lessons. The feelings of oneness were strengthened among participants, through patriotic songs and games.
- Under Adopt a Grannie Parent Programme, 23 destitute and old people were provided with monthly solatiums, in the form of rice, dhal, oil, etc., for their livelihood and 41 persons provided rice only, in five Southern districts of Tamilnadu.
- Monthly deepa poojas were organized in 269 village temples in five districts of Southern Tamilnadu, in which 11,572 ladies participated and offered prayers for the welfare of self, family and the society.
- Under Amrita Surabhi Scheme, our Kendra workers collected 2588 Kgs of rice from Kanyakumari, Valliyoor, Thoothukudi, Ramnad and Aruppukottai districts.
- Through various branch centers and book stalls, literature books were sold for Rs. 80,355/-
- Subscriptions for 254 Vivekavani, 230 one year, 9 two years, 13 three years & life 2 and 10 Yuva Bharathi was collected.
- 80 women are being benefited in 4 Self Help Groups in Kanyakumari district.Swadhyaya Varga was organised, one at Ramnad and one at Aruppukottai, in which 48 persons participated.
- Yoga Varga has being conducted at four places, two each at Ramnad and one each at Thoothukudi, and Aruppukottai in which 104 persons attended.
- 4 tailoring units are functioning well in Nellai district with the total attendance of 89.
- Shivalinga Poojas were conducted at two places in Kanyakumari District and 105 members participated.
- Durga Pooja was conducted at two places, in Kanyakumari District in which 116 women participated.
- 1008 Deepa Poojas were conducted at Tiruvattar, Kanyakumari district on August 14 where devotees from 48 villages participated.
- Parents meeting was conducted at 5 places in Kanyakumari district and at 2 places in Kovilpatti, where 150 parents attended. Also, Matru Pooja was conducted at Chakkarakudi on August 15th in which 56 parents proudly participated.
- Cultural Conference was held at Ambasamudram on August 21st. 12 cultural classes were conducted for 122 students.
- Rural – Union level competition was conducted in all the 05 districts in which 5560 students from 277 schools participated in 35 competitions, along with 168 parents and 288 teachers.
- Vivekanandar Vizha was celebrated at Valliyoor with 50 participants.
- Eknathji was celebrated at 21 places in Kanyakumari district and at 4 places at Kovilpatti district with 420 and 280 participants, respectively.
- Urban level competition was conducted at Aruppukottai with the participation of 23 schools, 316 students, 5 parents and 35 teachers.
This month, we have distributed the rice which was collected through Amrit Surabhi and Anna Pooja to Balwadi children, old poor people and also through the following institutions, educational institutions etc., as follows:
