VKV Balijan Student excel in State Level Science Seminarvkv-balijan-state-level-science-seminar Department of School Education in collaboration with BITM National Council of Science Museums-Kolkata, organized a State level seminar on the theme ‘Chemistry for human welfare-promises and concerns’ at Itanagar today.


Altogether, 14 participants from various schools of the state participated the seminar.


Osunam Pangam of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Balijan was adjudged winner of the State level Science seminar-2011, while, Jamlar Kojam Tungi of Eklavya Model Residential School (VKV), Bana and Sangeeta Das of Intaya Public School, Roing bagged second and third prizes respectively.


Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, professor H S Yadav, Department of Chemistry, NERIST said: “The topic of Chemistry is universal in nature and is closely linked with every life form and its origin in universe” while highlighting on the importance of chemistry in human life. Giving detailed information on the topic ‘Chemistry for human welfare-promises and concerns’, Professor Yadav wholeheartedly lauded the participants for inculcating scientific temperament. However, he regretted over the lack of Power Point Presentation system during the seminar, which would have added more live to the presentation.


Yadav appealed the education department to impart knowledge on Power Point system to the students so as to make them ready for various national level competitions too. He also expressed concerned over less participations of students of govt school and urged the DSE to make it mandatory for every govt schools to send their representatives.


Director of School Education T Taloh emphasized on judicious use of Science knowledge for the greater interest of the humanity. He also called upon the students to develop scientific temperament to excel in life besides bringing laurels to the State.


Earlier, the participants presented their papers on the topic and highlighted on contributions of chemistry in human lives such as health care, agriculture productions, industries and social activities and also its ill effects because of its over exploitation as well as people’s negligence.
