Since 1976, Vivekananda Kendra is organizing “Yoga Shiksha Shibirs” at Vivekanandapuram, Kanyakumari for the propagation of Yoga way of life and to help the participants in their spiritual growth. It is also to make the participants aware of the current social situations and the responsibility of every citizen for the constructive contribution for the betterment of the society. .
This year’s first Yoga Shiksha Shibir was organized from 5-19 May and today is its concluding day.
The reporting date of the Shibir was 4th May 2011 wherein most of the participants reported. The Shibir was formally Inaugurated by Adarniya Mamaji on the morning of 5th May 2011.
In all 55 participants, 45 Brothers and 10 sisters, participated from the 13 states of India, namely Assam, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamilnadu, Karnataka, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Gujarat, New Delhi and Bihar. One participant was from Prague, Czechoslovakia.
The Shibir was conducted in Hindi as well as English Languages and some of the sessions were common.
The Participants were organized into 6 groups named after the historical cities of India : Ayodhya, Mathura, Awantia, Haridwar, Kashi and Kanchi.
During the Shibir, Practical Yogabhyas was conducted in the morning and evening where in Asanas, Pranayama, Suryanamaskar, relaxation techniques were taught. Also amongst the shat-kriyas, Jal-neti and Waman Dhauti was practiced.
Lectures were deliverd on Yoga Concept, Raja Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Karma Yoga, Jnan Yoga, Bhagavad Gita, Happiness Analysis, Indian Culture, Challenges before Indian Culture, Story of Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Vivekananda Kendra its activities and prayer.
Manthan was done on many a lecture topics and on the book :”Rousing call to the Hindu Nation”.
During the Shibir, Participants visited Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Kanyakumari Temple and Suchindram Temple. Also all went for trekking to Marut Malai mountain. Campus visit was organized for familiarizing the participants with exhibitions in the Campus.
Shram Samskar, Geet Abhyas, Bhajan Sandhya were the other Highlights. Participants unwinded themselves at the Happy Assembly at night wherein participants shared their talents with songs games and thought presentations. The highlight of the Camp was the Drama presentation by the participants on VRM. Films on VRM, VKV and Chanakya were also shown.
In all, the whole camp was held with moderate discipline in a congenial and lively atmosphere.
