Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Odisha Prant, Jyoti Vibhag, Rourkela Karyasthan organized a 10-day Yoga Satra from 25th March to 3rd April 2025 at R.D.A. Park, Kalinga Vihar, Chhend, in alignment with the national standards and guidelines of Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari. The event saw enthusiastic participation from 25 people of different age groups who committed themselves to the discipline and practice of yoga throughout the duration of the camp.

Each day of the Satra began with loosening exercises followed by Surya Namaskar, various Asanas, Pranayama techniques, and Kriyas, aimed at improving the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of the participants. The sessions were well-structured and conducted in a disciplined manner to ensure maximum benefit for the practitioners.

Apart from practical sessions, there was a significant focus on the theoretical understanding of yoga, particularly the Ashtanga Yoga system propounded by Maharishi Patanjali. This included detailed discussions on the eight limbs of yoga – Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, and Samadhi. These sessions helped participants gain a deeper insight into the yogic lifestyle and how it can be applied in day-to-day life for holistic development.

The theory and discussion (Charcha) sessions were conducted by respected Karyakartas of Vivekananda Kendra, namely:

  • Aadharneeya Shri. Ravi Naidu ji, Odisha Prant Sangathak
  • Aadharneeya Kanchan Som Agarwal Didi, Odisha Prant Sah Sangathak
  • Aadharneeya Shri. Pratap Pradhan ji, Odisha Seva Prakalpa and Prant Sah Sangathak
  • Aadharneeya Shri. Ramkrushna ji, Sanjojak of Rourkela Karyasthan

Their guidance and insights were immensely valuable, inspiring participants to explore yoga not just as a physical discipline but as a complete way of life rooted in Bharatiya culture and values. The Kendra Prarthana and daily satsangs added a spiritual dimension to the program, reinforcing the message of Swami Vivekananda about self-discipline, service, and spiritual growth.
